Work With Us
At the Literacy Tutoring Collaboration, we strive to close the literacy gap in Northern Virginia by providing targeted, intensive literacy interventions to students at their schools during the school day.

Identify
We look at data of local schools to determine which schools have a significant portion of students who are not achieving grade level literacy skills or shows evidence of literacy achievement disparity between demographic groups.
Collaborate
We work with a school-based team to analyze student performance data and determine the degree of intervention needed. This data-based decision making includes analysis of current data and discussion of additional diagnostic assessments needed to determine the best next steps instructionally.
Teach
We group the students in low student-teacher ratio groups according to their instructional needs and develop a schedule with the classroom teachers. Students will receive frequent and intensive literacy interventions during the school day.
Assess & Revise
The LTC teacher uses progress monitoring tools to modify and adjust instruction as necessary. At the end of a predetermined period (generally 8-10 weeks), the LTC team will meet with the school-based literacy team again to look at data and reassess student needs based on outcomes.
Celebrate Success
Above all else, we celebrate success - with students and families, with intervention groups, and with the teachers and literacy team! We celebrate the progress students make and the collaborative teamwork between educators on a job well done!
